Computer Vision - How do you correct this? I do not have the luxury of taking 10 minute breaks nor can I do eye exercises when I am in class. I stare at the computer screen for 4 hours straight and I start to get blurry vision in my right eye only that sometimes lasts for 2 hours afterwards- especially in fluorescent lighting. What is there to help me when I normally have 20/20 vision? I'm desperate as this has made me concentrate less in class from the distraction. kasumicat replied: "If you are unable to leave the computer, then at least change your focus about every 20 minutes and stare at a distant object, then return your focus to a near object and repeat that several times. Also make sure that you are blinking regularly while using the computer." I am interested in diong a MS leading to Phd degree in image processing and computer vision.? gangadharan_nair replied: "One may be able to mitigate the risk of Computer vision syndrome (CVS) by adhering to the "20-20-20 rule": every 20 minutes, focus the eyes on an object 20 feet (6 meters) away for 20 seconds. Also, the use of over-the-counter artificial tear solutions and computer glasses can reduce the effects of CVS." Computer Vision Syndrome questions? As I have read, Computer Vision Syndrome does not leave any permanent damage to the eyes. Is this really true?
Also, does the amount of heal time needed for the eyes to rest relate to the amount of time of prolonged use on the computer, or is the amount of rest time the same for any amount of computer use?
Any tips on alleviating blurred vision caused by CVS? Mags replied: "There are a few things you can to to help you overcome the symptoms caused by Computer Vision Syndrome.
Even if you don't wear glasses, you can get corrective lenses with anti-reflective properties. This will help fight the glare from the screen. These are not tinted lenses, they are anti-glare. I've had that layer added to glasses and they do work. But the thing is, I don't wear glasses for computer work; if you don't either, you can still get a prescription for an optical glass with the anti-glare layer.
The next step is to take a look at the computer environment. Is the room too bright? Is your chair comfortable? Posture in the chair. Adjust your distance from the screen, the keyboard. All of these things contribute to CVS.
Don't sit and stare for hours at a time. From time to time, raise your eyebrows and hold that position. Roll your eyes. Give your eyes some exercise time. Look away from the screen too. It wouldn't hurt to stretch the rest of your body as well because that also eases tension and helps with the headaches, backaches, sore neck also associated with CVS.
With anti-glare lenses, physical adjustments and plenty of eye exercises for the strained muscles, you really shouldn't have any down time. You haven't actually hurt your eyes, you have affected the muscles and let them become weaker by constant bright close focus.
Check this article and check with an opthamologist if you wear glasses and even if you don't because your eyes can change and possibly you might now need glasses. Check the effectiveness of the new glasses before you leave the office. There will be plenty of computer screens there.
You can begin those eye exercises right now - I wouldn't delay.
Good luck" USE OF COMPUTER GRAPHIC in industry and how it is applied in the area of COMPUTER VISION and IMAGE PROCESSING?
